The main topics this month will be the new

BIODIVERSITY DUTY

This new regulation stipulates that all Councils have a duty to promote and preserve Biodiversity in their communities. It means that as a Parish Council we have to identify actions we can take to support biodiversity. We will be scrutinising planning applications to make sure there are no major adverse impacts on the local ecology from development in our area; reviewing the how and when we mow grass verges, village greens, and how we can leave some areas a little wilder to increase wildlife habitats. This will need to be balanced with the need to ensure safe visibility when travelling on our roads. Please come along and help us work out the actions we can take and let us know which areas you think could be managed differently.

We are ahead of most parishes when it comes to a focus on biodiversity, as we have the Sapperton Rewilding project on our doorstep and we will be receiving regular updates on the progress of their project.

PLANNING

The Parish Council is a statutory consultee on Planning applications in our area. This month, we will be discussing the retrospective planning application 23/03728/FUL lodged by the Jolly Nice. The deadline for comment on this application is 8 January 2024. Should you wish to add a comment of support, objection or simply make a general comment of your views you can do so on the Cotswold District Council’s Planning register. Your views are important and will be taken into consideration.

So come along to Frampton Mansell Village Hall at 7pm on Tuesday 9 January 2024 and let us know your views so that we can represent those views effectively.
