Below is the Notice of Election which was published on Monday 3 June. This will be circulated widely.

The deadline to submit nominations is 4pm on Friday 7 June and Cotswold District Council (CDC) will know the final list of candidates at that point.

Poll cards will be sent to all registered electors around 6 June.

Anyone who is not on the register can apply online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote by the deadline of midnight on Tuesday 18 June.

Postal votes will be sent out between 17 and 21 June and need to be returned to Cotswold District Council (CDC) offices by 10pm on election day.  Postal votes can be handed in at the CDC office or a polling station, however, new rules mean that the person delivering the packs will need to complete a “handing in” form.  More information about this is included in the postal vote packs.

Anyone wishing to vote by post who doesn’t already have one in place, can register online at www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote by the deadline of 5pm on Wednesday 19 June.

For anyone wishing to understand the rules governing Parish Councils in relation to conducting business in the lead up to the Election please read this short guide  https://www.local.gov.uk/publications/short-guide-publicity-during-pre-election-period.

You can nominate someone to vote on your behalf if you are unable to attend a polling station. To apply for a Proxy Vote, please follow the link below. The deadline to apply is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June and this can be online at www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote

If anyone needs a paper application form for registration, postal or proxy voting, please contact the CDC offices and they will post them out.

Voter ID was introduced in May 2023, so anyone voting at the polling station needs to bring acceptable ID with them.  Details of what is acceptable ID can be found on the Electoral Commission’s site: https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voting-and-elections/voter-id/accepted-forms-photo-id

Anyone without an acceptable form of ID may request a free Voter Authority Certificate by making an application at https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate

All these details are also included on the CDC website at https://www.cotswold.gov.uk/about-the-council/elections-and-voting/current-and-future-elections/

If you have any questions about the election, please do get in touch with CDC
